They will be responsible to build relationships, effectively communicate, engage and encourage their children in a fun environment. They will be ever mindful of our best practice guidelines (including ratio and scheduling) and lead by example. 

    Main Duties Will Include:

    • Planning, developing and implementing programs of stimulating activities which promote the physical, social emotional and intellectual well-being of the children.

    • Supervising children within the program both indoors and outdoors.

    • Serving the children snacks and lunch.

    • Responsible for record keeping (i.e. attendance logs, etc.).

    • Maintain a safe and engaging environment.

    • On-going communication with parents/guardians.

    • Participate in monthly staff meetings and agency meetings as required.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Operations (DO) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing daily operations across all CBELAC locations.     This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives on building strong, supportive relationships and empowering teams to create exceptional learning environments for children. The DO plays a pivotal role in aligning operational strategies with pedagogical excellence, staff development, and community engagement, ensuring CBELAC continues to be a leader in early childhood education.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Operations & Compliance

    • Oversee daily operations across all CBELAC locations, ensuring efficiency and excellence in early learning environments.

    • Ensure full compliance with Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), health and safety regulations, and licensing standards.

    • Develop, implement, and refine policies and procedures that drive operational excellence.

    • Partner with the Pedagogical Lead and program teams to integrate best practices in early learning.

    2. Human Resources & Staff Leadership

    • Lead hiring, onboarding, and professional development to build a high-performing, engaged workforce.

    • Implement training programs aligned with CBELAC’s pedagogical philosophy and operational goals.

    • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable workplace culture.

    • Support staff well-being and retention through clear communication, mentorship, and career development opportunities.

    • Ensure compliance with employment standards, workplace safety regulations, and HR best practices.

    • Manage employee relations, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution processes.

    3. Financial & Facility Oversight

    • Collaborate with the CEO and finance team to develop and manage operational budgets.

    • Oversee facilities management, ensuring learning environments remain safe, well-maintained, and enriching.

    • Work with vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services and supplies.

    4. Family & Community Engagement

    • Ensure an exceptional experience for families through responsive and supportive communication.

    • Align operational strategies with CBELAC’s mission, values, and commitment to inclusion and care.

    • Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, funders, and stakeholders to expand CBELAC’s impact.

    • Support marketing, recruitment, and enrollment efforts to maintain program growth and engagement.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Early Childhood Education, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.

    • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CHRL) is considered an asset.

    • Minimum 5 years of operational leadership experience in childcare, education, or non-profit settings.

    • Strong knowledge of early childhood education regulations and compliance frameworks (CCEYA).

    • Experience in multi-site management, policy development, and staff leadership.

    • Proven ability to analyze and improve operational processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and high-quality early learning experiences.
